Some great changes have taken place since my last web page existed. New exhibitions planned for 2011. Some new technology has provided me with reference material that wouldn’t have been possible 5 years ago. And Ive taken a long hard look at my direction and decided it’s time to completely rethink my work. So heres a load of stuff to look at while I get busy making works you havent seen from me in the past.
This morning lily painting is still my favourite.
This big sky is a pastiche of how I imagine the Atherton Tablelands would look from the air. A huge piece of work.
This years Art Escape will be based on pics like this Sunrise shot.
Kirsty Bevon commissioned this for her Mum Maree. Im really proud of it.
Last year in Feb/March I spent some time in Melbourne and I just had to have breakfast at this gorgeous Polish retro cafe in Chapel st.
Ive been in many directions at once, but somehow it seems my colour schemes remain recognisable. Even in more animated work.
This sculpture scene titled “Seven” came from a dream about sexuality and individuality and the deep places in people.
Balmoral was my entry into the Oceanic Prize in Port Douglas last year. Ive won the peoples choice twice at the Oceanic. “Seven” won a couple of awards at the Cairns Regional this year.
“Crackpots” below isn’t a recent painting, however it was only completed last year. I started it way back in 1992. As often happened with pictures done purely for myself, they end up on the back burner while other work takes priority. At least thats how it’s been till now. I’m finally cutting the patterns and following my bliss.
“Duality” is painted on the kick plate of a piano. The local council invited artists to paint up some old pianos to be parked around the city for passing punters to play at their pleasure. It was a lovely thing to see someone playing out in the open air just for the joy of it. We were asked to “tell our story”. So we did.

Hi Greg, Wow!What a talent you havebeengifted. I have been staying at ThalaBeachResort for a few days and totally LOVE your paintings of the parrots in the rainforest!! So I just had to look you up on the web….and am so impressed with all your work – especially the lotus and water canvases. I was hoping that I could call into your gallery onmy way back to Townsville but can’t find a link to say where you are? Do you have any other paintings of the parrots on display or for sale? And will you be having adisplay in Townsville in the future? Love to see you there. Warm wishes, Wendy

Hi Greg,
Went to look at your current work at the Cairns Gallery, I was very drawn to The Listening Wind, I’m still trying to work out why, felt a real connection with it. It keeps appearing in my mind. Is it still for sale?
Hi Susannah.
Its nice to know someone out there connected with it.
I still do too. I kinda hope the picture expresses what I dont have words for. I hope thats the same thing it makes you feel or remember.
Its still for sale. I havent put it out there much.
Its still the desktop on my computer screen.
I had it in the Regional Exhibition but it was in a dark spot and nobody noticed the subtle light or movement in the grass.
Its the first in a series featuring that same character that I plan on doing alot more of.
Thanks for your message.:-)
Made me evening.
Greg
